Running experiments at IPB

With the help of molecular biologist Dr A. Morina we have successfully finished experiments with Lemna minor and tested toxicity of PAW. Physicists now know how to measure chlorophyll in plants. And we managed to play with a new toy Implen NanoPhotometer (hopefully one day ours) thanks to Labena Serbia.

Handling of the calli needed for plasma treatment

Reference strains in preparation

The protocols for maintenance and storage of the reference multidrug resistant strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae /ATCC BAA-2814 and Enterococcus faecalis /ATCC 51299 have been implemented and tested. The first seed stocks had been prepared and subcultured, and the resulting working cultures were used for preparation of bacterial suspensions ranging from 108 CFU/ml – 104 CFU/ml. Their confluent growth as well as inhibition zones of selected antimicrobials were assessed, as part of developing experimental protocols for assessment of antibacterial efficacy of the generated plasmas of the APP sources on agar plates, and possible development of resistance against plasma treatments.

Dr N Puač was invited speaker and chair person of section Plasma Medical & Agricultural Application II. She was also member of Student Poster Award Committee. Carrot calli culture ready for pilot experiments

Morphologically, they look almost the same; nevertheless here are presented three different varieties of carrot (Daucus carota). Calli of orange, white, and black carrot grown on the basal medium are ready for plasma treatment.

APPerTAin-BIOM Kick off meeting at the Institute of Physics Belgrade. The team has discussed the common research framework and data management. We discussed possible risks that stemmed from the delay of funding, COVID situation and war that hugely influenced the delivery dates for purchases.
